Ube-cheese Pandesal Recipe
Hi mga kabayan!
I would like to share with you our recipe for Ube-cheese Pandesal. This recipe makes very soft and cheesy pandesal, which your kids and family will love.
What you need:
4 cups of flour 50g of yeast
1 1/4 cup of water-warm
1 cup of bown sugar
1 tsp of ube essence
1 tsp of salt
4 tbsp of powdered milk
1 egg 2 tbsp of margarine or butter
100g of mozzarella cheese (optional) 1 cup of bread crumbs
How to do?
1. Add 1 1/4 cup of warm water to yeast. Cover and let it rise for 10 minutes.
2. Add 1 cup of brown sugar to yeast liquid, 1 tsp of salt, 4 tbsp of powdered milk, 2 tbsp of margarine liquid/butter then 1 tsp of ube essence liquid. Add 1 egg. Mix until all ingredients are dissolve.
3. In the mixing bowl, make a hole in the middle of the flour. Then add the mixed liquid. Mix until smooth.
4. In a flat surface, knead the dough until the texture becomes fine. For faster and easier kneading, you may use a Stand Mixer with dough hook.
5. When it reached the elastic consistency its done. (About 15 minutes with machine mixer). Mold the dough until shape becomes round then put back in the mixing bowl. Cover the mixing bowl with damp cloth and let the dough rise for at least 6-8 hour (Inside the refrigerator overnight, 1 hr inside in room temperature).
6. Put the dough back to the flat surface and divide into 2 equal parts using a dough slicer Roll each part until it forms a cylindrical shape Slice the cylindrical dough diagonally (These slices will be the individual pieces of the pandesal)
7. Insert the slice of mozzarella cheese in each piece of dough then Roll the sliced dough over the breadcrumbs and place in a baking tray with wax paper (makes sure to provide gaps between dough as this will rise later on)
8. Leave the sliced dough with breadcrumbs in the tray for another for 30 minutes to rise
9. Pre-heat the oven at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for 10 minutes Put the tray with dough in the oven and bake for 15 minutes 10..Turn off the oven and remove the freshly baked pandesal. Serve hot. Share and enjoy!
